About Us

Patrick Ireland Frames specialises in the production of hand-finished picture frames and mirrors. The company was founded in 1979 by Patrick, who learnt the art of hand-finishing in Italy, the origin of framing. After 40 years he has recently stepped down and the company is now run by his daughter, Abbie. Having grown up in the framing world and learnt first-hand from her father’s experiences and career, Abbie is committed to continuing her father’s legacy, focusing on design innovation, quality, and reliability.

At the heart of the company’s ethos is the desire to design and create beautiful, hand-finished products using a combination of traditional and modern techniques. Whilst historically frames have been made from timber, in recent years metal has also been introduced to complement the timber range.

As well as a continuously evolving catalogue of their frame and mirror designs, Patrick Ireland Frames has become a go-to name for bespoke picture frames and mirrors. It was Patrick’s eye for detail and flexible can-do approach that opened the door to the world of interiors. They now produce bespoke frames and mirrors for some of the UK’s leading interior designers and hotel groups, as well as working with private clients, artists, galleries, and art curators.

Based in East Sussex, their van delivers weekly to London, and they also offer on-site visits and consultations across London and the southeast. Further afield, they use specialist courier companies to ship their products across the UK and worldwide.

What services do you provide?

Mirrors, Picture Framing and hand finishing

How would you describe your style?

“Our designs range from contemporary to traditional in both frame designs and finishes.  We are very lucky to have a small team of highly skilled frame makers and finishers, who between them, have worked with us for over 75 years. Their knowledge and experience allow us constantly to review and develop techniques, designs and finishes, keeping abreast with interior trends and fashions.

The last few years have seen a rise in the popularity of our imitation metal finishes on timber frames. We have developed and adapted these finishes in line with our client’s requirements and can offer these as a more cost-effective option to metal frames."

"The bespoke nature of our frames and mirrors means that we often create unique frames and mirrors. Every aspect of the frame is made and finished by hand, giving our clients the flexibility to customise each detail of the design. This includes the overall shape and size, the frame profile, the material, or materials used to make the frames, the type of mirror glass etc. We love working with our clients to bring their concepts to life, it’s incredibly rewarding.

As we hand finish all our frames at our workshop, we can create completely bespoke finishes for our clients’ projects. We also match colours and finishes provided to us, producing samples and CAD drawings for sign off before going into production."
