Driven by a necessity to affordably curtain her new home following a move to rural Shropshire in 2016, the founder of Hare’s Tail Speronella Marsh set out to learn the skills required to hand block designs onto her precious collection of antique linens. The resulting curtains hanging around her home were admired by friends and family who began commissioning their own soft furnishings. From this initial flurry of interest, Hare’s Tail was born in 2018. Since then, Hare’s Tail fabrics have been commissioned by interior designers across the world and have been featured along with Speronella’s home in a number of the top UK interior magazines.

Speronella was raised in Rome before studying at Van der Kelen in Belgium, the only school in the world to teach the traditional techniques of decorative painting.  Moving to London in her early twenties her creative flair has taken her from working in interiors to the gardening world and back again.

In 2022 after many enquiries about making her designs available on wallpapers, Speronella decided to create Hare’s Tail’s first wallpaper collection. With the help of her neighbour and friend, Melanie Lewis, the first collection incorporates the original designs, mostly inspired by natural form. The collection features a number of Hare’s Tail’s original designs which have been reimagined, ensuring to replicate the look and texture of the hand-block printed fabric in the wallpaper.
