"We have recently completed a Grade II listed sixteenth century house in Oxfordshire that was in need of a complete refurbishment.

We worked with local Cotswolds architects and stripped back the interior of the house completely to the original stonework, removing layers of unsympathetic repairs that enabled the house to be “stitched” back together with metal helical ties.

The entire internal layout of this 6,500 sq ft house was reconfigured including relocating the stairs between the ground and 1st floor and adding in a newly positioned staircase between 1st -2nd floor. Previously unused attic space was incorporated into the house giving two further bedrooms and a bathroom. Additionally a new kitchen (as seen in the first image), larder, boot room and laundry extension have also been added to create an extra 1000 sq ft of living space.

Conservation was high on the list for this project so we worked with a conservation officer to ensure that as many of the period details as possible were retained.  We also sourced and used many reclaimed items including beams, joists and old doors and researched ironmongery styles that traditionally would have been found in a house of this age - and had them made by a local blacksmith.

For the interiors we mixed inherited furniture (often recovered!) with new, bespoke pieces to create a lovely family home, full of original character that appeared to have evolved over time."
